The Giza Complex is one of the last intact prehistoric monuments on the planet that was built at the time of the ancient empire (2686- 2181 BC) during the IV dynasty (2613-2493) more than 4000 years ago and is still able to capture the heart and soul of all it sees. It contains three pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos with six other smaller pyramids, the Valley Temple and the Great Sphinx.

The Great Pyramid
The Great Pyramid of Giza or The Pyramid of King Cheops (Khufu) is the largest pyramid in Egypt and the only surviving of the seven wonders of the Ancient World. It is in the center of the Planet. It was built in 2560 BC by the order of King Cheops. The construction of the Great Pyramid lasted 20 years from 2540 BC to 2560 BC. The Great Pyramid was built with 2 million and 300 thousand large blocks of limestone and granite.

The Great Sphinx
The Sphinx was carved out of the limestone quarry that was on this site. It was built by King Kefren with the human head and lion's body as symbols of the king's strength and intelligence. The Great Sphinx is the oldest and largest in the world. There are many mysteries surrounding the time of its construction and the lack of its nose. Its name in Egyptian Arabic is ''Abu Alhol'' which means the father of terror.

The Temple of the Valley
It was built by King Kefren. It is the place where the ancient Egyptians mummified the kings and queens. The Temple is one of the best preserved temples. It was under sand until the 19th century. It was built of polished red granite and white limestone.

You will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Cairo before enjoying the visit of:

The Pompey Pillar was built in 297 in the Roman period in honor of Emperor Diocletian for his victory in the battle with General Achilleus. It is known by the name Pompey by the crusaders who believed that Pompey (a Roman politician and general) was assassinated by Ptolemy XIII (Cleopatra's brother and husband) and his head was buried here, but this theory is not correct.
