Pyramids of Giza

The pyramids of Giza are the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still preserved today and therefore one of the most famous buildings in the world. The pyramids of Giza include the three main pyramids, the Pyramid of Cheops, the Pyramid of Chephren and the Pyramid of Mykerinus.

The Sphinx of Giza
The Sphinx Giza is the largest Egyptian sculpture. It was carved out of the limestone rock of the Giza Plateau and represents a lying lion with a human head and the so-called Nemes headscarf. Originally, the sphinx was painted with reddish ochre and also had a chin beard, but this fell off in ancient times.

We will Move to Saqqara, a pyramid complex that, like Giza, is part of the necropolis of Memphis. Ancient Memphis Egypt
After Saqqara, we will undertake the last part of our excursion. We will head to Memphis, capital of the Old Empire between 3100 and 2040 BC, and the coronation site of all the pharaohs of the Empire.
According to tradition, Memphis was founded by Narmer, considered the first pharaoh. The city is located in the Nile Delta, right between Upper and Lower Egypt, the two regions into which the country was divided. In 1820, a huge statue of one of the most famous pharaohs, Ramses II, who ruled from 1279 to 1213 BC, was found in the Great Temple of Ptah near Memphis. The colossus, carved from pink granite, is more than 11 meters high and weighs more than 80 tons. For a time it was located in the center of Cairo, but erosion seriously damaged it and it was moved to Memphis, where it is exhibited in a covered area, to protect it.

Egyptian Museum of Antiquities
you will continue your excursion with a visit to the Egyptian Museum, where there are antiques from the Pharaonic period. The museum exhibits a rare collection of 5000 years of art, considered to be the most valuable collection of Egyptian art in the world. More than 25,000 antiquities are on display, including an exhibition devoted to Tutankhamen’s Treasure, furniture and jewelry, kept in his tomb for more than 3,500 years before Howard Carter discovered them in 1922.

The Cairo Citadel
The second stage takes us to another part of the city, on the other side of the Nile, is the Citadel of Saladin (Salah El-Din).

Founded in 1176, it is a fortification in an elevated area of the city. Its “military” nature is still preserved since a large part of the area cannot be visited as it is dedicated to the army, but the historical part is open to the public and in addition to the fortifications and the priceless view of the city, here you can admire the great Mosque of Mohammed Ali, one of the symbols what you should see

The Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali
The Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali is one of the largest mosques in Egypt. It was built between 1830 and 1880. The minarets are 82 m and the dome is 52 m high. The interior walls are covered with alabaster and the columns are made of solid alabaster. The whole mosque offers the perfect combination of majesty and beauty. Then Proceed to have your lunch at a local restaurant.

Bazaar khan el khalili
After visiting the Egyptian Museum go see the beautiful Khan El-Khalili famous souq Cairo main market. Its always crowded with tourists and locals alike. It is the beating heart of the Egyptian metropolis. Lose yourself in the various bazaars where you will really find everything and buy some nice local handicrafts.

Free time at your disposal to rest, Enjoy water sports, discover the underwater world, or enjoy on a desert safari. Overnight in Sharm El Sheikh.
